Forest Hills is west of downtown Augusta on Wrightsboro Road across from Daniel Field.
The layout is a parkland design journeying over rolling terrain and along pine tree lined fairways throughout. There's minimal water hazards in play, but the fairways and greens are guarded by deep sand bunkers. From the back tees it's long at 7,140 yards, 74.2/137, course/slope ratings with four shorter tee boxes.
The course was originally the location of Camp Hancock in WWI but after the war was developed into the Ricker Hotel resort with Donald Ross designing the original layout in 1926 and an Arnold Palmer redesign in 2004. In WWII, the government took over the property and converted the hotel to a hospital and the course was renamed the Armed Forces Golf Course. In 1977 Augusta State University acquired the property and the course was renamed Forest Hills and preserved.
