Manakiki is part of Cleveland Metroparks and is located in Willoughby Hills, on the east side of the intersection of I-271 and I-90.
The layout is over slightly rolling topography yet remains walkable as it traverses old-growth, tree-lined fairways with numerous doglegs in a completely natural setting. Small ponds, streams, or wetlands are in play, but the layout's strength lies in the modest turtleback greens well defended by deep-faced sand bunkers. It's a Donald Ross original design at 6,643 yards, 71.8/129, course/slope ratings from the back tees with three shorter tees, and a must-play if you're a purist of the game and appreciate old architecture. Manakiki's name is derived from the Native American word for maple forest. It was built on the former grounds of Cleveland industrialist Howard Hanna's estate and was a private club when it opened in 1929 until the City purchased it in the early 1960s.
