The Mark Twain Golf Course is a municipal layout located between Elmira and Horseheads off the Southern Tier at College Avenue to the south.

The golf course is an entertaining layout over rolling hills with several water hazards in play and sand bunkers mostly around the, modest, raised greens. The course was a WPA project in the Depression and the city fathers named it after Twain, a favorite son, although they must have never heard his saying about golf being a good walk spoiled! It can play to 6,857 yards from the tips, 73.6/130, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, a Donald Ross classic design.
