Mississippi National is southeast of Red Wing on the west bank of the Mississippi River, about an hour from Minneapolis on US 61/63 with two 18-hole, golf courses.

The layouts are parkland designs carved through heavily forested land. The Highlands is the premium layout sauntering along a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River and the Hiawatha Valley, which has significant changes in elevation, numerous doglegs, and three holes with water hazards. It's not all that long, the tips play to 6,282 yards, 70.7/129, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees. The Lowlands wander along the river bottom land below the Highlands course. It has a straightforward and traditional layout along tree-lined fairways and one water hazard. It plays to 6,489 yards from the tips, 71.6/133, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, both designed by Gordon Cunningham.
