Pease Golf Course is on the south side of Portsmouth Airport off I-95 at Exit 3. It has three nine-hole layouts along its western border.
They are challenging layouts winding along tree-lined corridors with numerous doglegs, water hazards, sand bunkers, and modest greens. The original 18 holes play to 6,346 yards, 70.1/120 course/slope ratings from the back tees with three shorter tees; the Blue nine plays to 3,227 yards from the back tees, 35.2/123.
The original nine holes were designed by Alex Findlay in 1901 as the Portsmouth County Club, with Ted Seavey adding an additional nine in the 1920s. The club was acquired by the Air Force in the 1950s and changed to Pease, but it reverted back to the public with the base closures in the 1990s. Al Zikorus was responsible for some design changes in the 1950s, and most recently, Brad Booth added the Lower Nine.
