Pinewood is about 30 minutes north of Tomahawk and 20 minutes northwest of Rhinelander marching over a large, natural tract of land.

The golf course is a pure Northwoods layout with the front side a modest warm up for the 600 yard longer back side. The routing provides for broad, tree lined fairways over slightly rolling contours with water in play on half the holes overall. It plays to 6,233 yards from the blue tees, 70.4/117, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed Al and Marie Bromann, Jr. in the 1960s.
