Prairie Isle is in the northwest suburbs of Chicago between Crystal Lake and Wauconda on Route 176.

The course treks through an abandoned gravel pit in a completely natural setting without homes or development. It's a parkland-style layout through tree-lined fairways along with those bordered by wetlands, lakes, and open meadows with water hazards in play on most holes. From the back tees it's 6,601 yards, 71.8/131, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees, designed by Gordon Cunningham.
