River Vale is located on the west side of Lake Tappan, near the New York border in North Jersey, 20 minutes from the GW Bridge.

The golf course is a classic parkland layout from 1928 that remains much the original design. It's compact and straightforward, with fairways defined by old-growth hardwood trees. Cherry Brook traverses the western third of the course, and sand bunkers are positioned along the fairways and defending the crowned greens surrounded by collection areas. The tips play to 6,504 yards, 71.4/132 course/slope ratings with three shorter tees designed by Orrin Smith.
