Shepherd's Hollow is located 30 miles northwest of Detroit in northern Oakland County at the intersection of I-75 and Dixie Highway in Clarkston with 27 holes.

The golf course is cut through a 350-acre pine and hardwood forest over rolling and sloping fairways with 160 feet in elevation change throughout without homes or development along the holes. There are ponds in play on several holes, but a generous amount of sand bunkers along the fairways and guarding the greens. The 1-18 combination is one of the toughest tracts in Michigan at 7,236 yards, 76.0/146 course/slope ratings from the tips, and four shorter tees. 10-27 is 6,804 yards, 75.8/144; 19-9 is 7,189 yards, 75.4/144, designed by Arthur Hills.
