Sonoma Ranch is in a residential community on the east side of Las Cruces at the Lohman Exit off I-25 to the east.

The layout marches over rolling terrain with views over the Mesilla Valley and to the Organ Mountains. It has the feel of a links-style layout as it moves through open fairways bordered by natural desert areas, sand bunkers, and water hazards. It was designed by Cal Olson and plays to 7,028 yards, 72.1/120, course/slope ratings from the tips with four other sets of tees.
