Talega is in San Clemente just east of the I-5 at exit 77 partially within a residential community set up against the foothills.

The golf course offers a blend of narrow and open, landing areas off the tee as it journeys along canyons, wetlands, and the natural corridors and vegetation of the hillside. It provides varying degrees of elevation change from tee to green along with 70+ pure white sand bunkers and five water hazards in play. The course plays to 6,951 yards from the back tees, par of 72, 73.5/136, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Freddy Couples/Curley Schmidt in 2001.
