The Bridges is about 40 minutes north of La Crosse in Winona on the south side of the Mississippi River.
The golf course is a parkland design partially through a residential community with homes on several exterior holes. The layout is surrounded by forest, with fairways defined by old-growth and hardwood trees over rolling terrain. It's well bunkered along the fairways and greens with wetlands, ponds, and Pleasant Valley Creek in play frequently. The course's original 9 holes, known as the Winona Country Club from the 1920s, were designed by its first golf pro, Ben Knight. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. redesigned and added a new nine in the 1960s, and later, Joel Goldstrand reconfigured the 18th hole. There are four sets of tees overall, with the Whites at 5,823 yards, 69.6/134, and course/slope ratings.
