World Golf Village is 15 miles south of Jacksonville, off I-95 to the west. It is an upscale residential community with hotels, restaurants, retail stores, and two 18-hole championship golf courses.
The Slammer and the Squire is a somewhat typical Florida parkland design along native, tree-lined fairways with water hazards and marsh areas at the margins and a generous amount of sand traps defending the fairways and greens. The course is 6,939 yards, 72.7/127, course/slope ratings from the tips with 4 shorter sets of tees, designed by Bobby Weed with Sam "Slammer" Snead and Gene "Squire" Sarazen, and opened in 1998.
The King and the Bear Nines are a collaboration between Arnold "The King" Palmer and Jack "The Bear" Nicklaus. The layout combines links and parkland design elements, with abundant sand traps bordering the fairways and securing the greens. The front nine is an open, links-style layout while the back nine is a traditional Florida design along fairways bordered by loblolly pines and oak trees, indigenous coquina rock, and numerous water features. The course plays to 7,279 yards, 74.1/138, course/slope ratings from the tips with four shorter tees.
