Avalon is located southwest of Knoxville near the I-40/I-75 interchange and part of a real estate development.

The course has a mix of wide open and narrow, tree lined fairways with varying degrees of elevation change throughout. There's an abundance of sand bunkers along the fairways and defending the sloping, elevated greens with multiple water hazards in play. There's five sets of tees, the middle Gold tees play to 5,841 yards, 68.1/121, course/slope ratings, designed by Joe Lee.
