Black Mountain Golf Club is a municipal golf course located in a scenic setting in the foothills of the Black Mountain Range in western North Carolina 15 minutes from Asheville.
The layout is characterized by slipping and sloping, tree lined fairways along the Tomahawk Branch traversing from north to south. There's slight doglegs, several blind shots, elevated tees, and mid-sized, raised greens protected by sand bunkers. The front nine was designed by Donald Ross in 1929, the back nine opened in 1962. From the back tees the course can play to 6,215-yards, par 71, 68.7/127, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees, and has the longest hole in the world, the 747-yard, par 6, 17th hole.
