Echelon is well north of Atlanta between Cumming and Canton just off Birmingham Highway.

The course is carved through the dense forests over and along hilly and sloping, fairways producing an assortment sidehill/downhill/uphill lies. The fairways and greens are bordered by a liberal amount of fingered sand bunkers with water hazards in play on several holes. It's a challenging and long layout at 7,558 yards from the tips, 77.8/154, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees, designed by Rees Jones.
