"The Park" is a 27 hole golf course located in the midst of urban St. Louis just west of downtown bordering Washington University and the St. Louis Zoo in Forest Park.
The golf course is a classic design from the early 1900s and meanders over rolling contours along fairways defined by rows or stands of a variety of hardwoods and evergreens. It's a scenic setting in Forest Park with views of the downtown skyline, the St. Louis Art Museum, and the Grand Basin throughout the round. Of the three nines, Hawthorne is flat with the fairways somewhat compact while Redbud has some of the most dramatic holes. Overall, they feature generally open fairways along a series of gentle doglegs which are defended by numerous water features and sand bunkers with a variety of shapes and sizes of green complexes. Course/slope ratings for the three rotations off the tips with three shorter tees: Hawthorn/Dogwood-67.9/114, course/slope ratings; Dogwood/Redbud-69.1/118; Redwood/Hawthorn-68.0/114, originally designed by Robert Foulis with a redesign by Stan Gentry with Hale Irwin.
