Lacoma is east of Dubuque on the Illinois side, overlooking the Mississippi River. It is 15 miles from Galena and a five-minute drive from downtown Dubuque. The course has two 18-hole courses and a 9-hole, par 3 layout.

The Blue Course is a quality championship-level layout winding through heavily forested areas with numerous doglegs and a couple of water hazards. It was designed by Gordon Cunningham in 1967 and plays to 6,814 yards from the tips, 72.7/123 course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.

The Red/Gold Course is a straightforward, playable, parkland layout winding through a lightly wooded area. It plays to 5,663 yards at the tips, 68.0/114, course/slope ratings from the tips with three shorter tees.
