The Neuse is located in a residential development off US 70 in Clayton about a forty-minute drive from downtown Raleigh.

The course is bordered by the Neuse River on the north side and winds along rolling, tree lined fairways and through rock outcroppings with water hazards in play on multiple holes. There's 39 sand bunkers mostly defending the ample, undulating greens surrounded by mounding feeding into collection areas. There's multiple tee boxes, the tips play to 7,010 yards, 73.5/137, designed in 1993 by John LaFoy.
