Timber Banks is within a real estate development along the Seneca River northwest of Syracuse in Baldwinsville off I-81 north.

The golf course is a parkland style design through and across woodlands, meadows, and wetlands along contoured fairways with differing shapes and sizes of sand bunkers providing visual deception off the tee. There's typical Nicklaus design elements of steep, sculptured sand bunkers along with greens that are hour-glass shaped or twin-tiered which require high approach shots. The layout is 7,331 yards from its back tees, 76.4/144, course/slope with three shorter sets of tees, designed by Jack Nicklaus. In addition, there's a good sized practice range, an enormous practice putting green, and a short-game facility that includes a chipping green and several bunkers.
