Umstead Pines Golf Club is located north of Durham, on the north side of the Eno River, within an established residential community.

The layout is a parkland design, with the fairways defined by a mix of narrow and broad, tree-lined corridors. There are only a couple of water features, but a generous amount of sand traps and numerous doglegs add to the golf course's character. There are four sets of tees overall, with the tips playing to 6,442 yards, 70.4/128, course/slope ratings, designed by George Cobb.
