Crystal Woods is in the northwest suburbs of Chicago in Crystal Lake, an hour from downtown Chicago and an hour east of Rockford. There's an 18 hole championship layout as well as the Craig Woods 9 hole, executive style course.

The 18 hole Crystal Woods course is a parkland layout along old growth, hardwood tree lined and hilly fairways with a mix of open and narrow corridors. There's water in play on 7 holes and a modest amount of sand traps positioned along the fairways and guarding the greens. It's generally straightforward save for several slight doglegs, and plays to 6,410 yards from the tips, 70.6/128, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees, the initial nines holes by William Langford with an addition and redesign by Charles Wagstaff
