La Costa is off the I-5 at the La Costa exit to the east in Carlsbad with two 18-hole, championship courses.

The Champions Course is the PGA Tour venue over the years and is a parkland design journeying along narrow and contoured, tree-lined fairways lined by tall native grasses. There are 90 sand bunkers prevalent in the fairways and defend the greens and water hazards in the form of ponds and creeks on ten holes. It's the most challenging layout at 7,172 yards from the tips, 75.1/140, course/slope ratings with five sets of shorter tees, a Dick Wilson original design, redesigned by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner.

The Legends course is a shorter and playable "resort-style" layout that meanders along rolling, tree-lined fairways with 60 sand traps and water features in play on ten holes. It can play to 6,996 yards, 74.2/133, course/slope ratings from the tips with shorter tees. The Champions and the Legends were designed by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee in the 1960s and 1970s, but redesigned by Damian Pascuzzo, Steve Pate, and Jeff Brauer.
