Penn National is southeast of Chambersburg near Mont Alto with two 18 hole championship courses.
The first to be built was the Founder's course, a classic, parkland layout on rolling hills with tree lined fairways, moderate use of bunkering, and large contoured greens which are fast and undulating. There's water in play on a few holes, and overall it's a challenging and interesting course. It will play to 6,972 yards, 73.8/137, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Ed Ault.
Iron Forge is near the Michaux State Forest in the foothills of South Mountain. In contrast to the Founder's, it's more of a rolling, links design without many trees to affect play, but fairways bordered by tall fescue with water on half dozen holes. From the tips it's 7,009 yards,73.8/133, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Bill Loves.
