River's Edge is north of Myrtle Beach in Shallotte in a scenic and isolated setting on the Shallotte River, albeit in a residential development.

The golf course layout strolls along the river and the surrounding marshland, with seven holes on bluffs overlooking the marshlands. The balance of the holes running back into the property are along tree-lined fairways with some elevation change. The golf course is defended by water or wetlands on 15 holes and by various shapes and styles of sand bunkers along the fairways and defending the greens. It was designed by Arnold Palmer and plays to 6,909 yards, 72.7/140, course/slope ratings from the back tees with four shorter tees.
