Lockwood Folly is a parkland-style layout within a residential community between Oak Island and Holden Beach on the Lockwood Folly River and the Intracoastal Waterway, and near the Atlantic Ocean. It's about an hour northeast of North Myrtle Beach and about 45 minutes west of Southport.

The layout journeys through an old hunting plantation, with most of the Live Oaks, pines, and Cypress trees remaining intact. The course is challenging, with tight tree-lined fairways, frequent water hazards, and sand guarding the landing zones and greens. From the tips, the course plays to 6,657 yards, 73.6/140 course/slope ratings with four shorter tees, designed by Willard Byrd.
