Champion Hill is about 45 minutes southwest of Traverse City in Beulah, just east of Frankfort.

The golf course's layout blends narrow, forested fairways with more open, links-like holes bordered by tall heather in a scenic setting with distant views of Lake Michigan, Crystal, and Platte Lakes. It was designed by Jim Cole and Lee Stone in 2000. From the back tees, it plays to 6,884 yards, 71.9/121 course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
