May River is open to guests of the Palmetto Bluff Resort just off Routes 278/46 west of Hilton Head in the South Carolina Low Country marshland.

The course routing is along a bend in the Harbor River with fairways bordered by ponds, lakes, and wetlands through the deep oak forest. There's a liberal use of sandy waste areas and conventional sand bunkers through the fairways and surrounding the undulating, contoured, and quick greens. It's was designed by Jack Nicklaus stretching to 7,171 yards from the back tees, 75.6/141, course/slope ratings with 4 other sets of tees.

There's also The Crossroads, a 9 hole, reversible layout designed by King-Collins on a 40 acre tract of ranging land. It was designed specifically as a match-play course whether The Hammer or The Press is the course of the day. The holes are played from yardages chosen by the players from a variety of teeing grounds and offers a significant, at least for the area, amount of elevation change.
