Poppy Hills is located inland from the Pacific roaming through the Del Monte Forest, and owned and operated by the Northern California Golf Association.

The golf course is parkland-like with a mix of broad and narrow, tree lined fairways bordered by pine straw, native natural sandy waste areas, and conventional sand traps with the occasional peek of the Pacific. There's nominal water hazards in play, but the generous, contoured and undulating greens are well defended by clusters of sand bunkers. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr in 1984 with a 2014 re-design, and can play to 7,002 yards from the tips, 74.4/144, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees.
