Spyglass Hill Golf Course is part of the Pebble Beach rota of courses for the annual PGA tournament.
The course takes its name from the Robert Louis Stevenson novel, Treasure Island, since it's rumored that Stevenson once roamed the area. The golf course has two types of holes, the first five running along the rolling sand dunes of the Pacific while the following 13 are through dense stands of pines with a heavy emphasis on sand bunkering, four water hazards, and modest, elevated, undulating greens. The layout plays to a par 72 at 6,960 yards at the tips, 75.5/144, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in 1966.
