Quail Lodge is bisected by the Quail River and located three miles inland from Carmel on Carmel Valley Road just out of the fog.

The golf course is known for its scenic views and park-like setting even though it's partially within a residential development. The layout is a parkland style design journeying along tree lined fairways with sand bunkers positioned along the fairways and guarding the greens and seven lakes in play. It's an easy walking course, and was designed by Robert Muir Graves with three sets of tees, from the back tees it plays to 6,449 yards, 71.4/129, course/slope ratings.
